Congratulations to Sonia Lappin who won the Doreen Hogan Trophy on a count back on 29/7.

The Stableford event is played in memory of Doreen Hogan, a past Life Member of the club. Pat  Hogan (in blue below), the daughter of Doreen who normally presents the trophy in May.

History

Doreen joined the golf club in 1945 and she and her husband Bill (who had been a member since 1936) were always at working bees around the club. Doreen would also do her share of cooking for the club on pennant and special days. Doreen was captain in 1961-62 and was on the committee for many years. In 1965 to acknowledge her commitment to the club she was bestowed with a life membership. In honour of Doreen’s 80th birthday in 1989, then captain Bill Kirby introduced the Doreen Hogan Perpetual event which is always played around the time of Doreen’s birthday which was 24 May 1909. This year it was delayed due to COVID-19.
